Mobile Companies Losing Huge Revenue In India


After heading to Assam Violence, Indian government has banned bulk SMS'es and MMS's for 15 days in all states of India. Banning of bulk messages headed to people on 18th August. According to General Director of Cellular Operators Association of India, Mr. Rajan S Mathews,
"A ban of several days means they could lose around 7 to 8 % of revenue this month from their SMS/MMS services"
He also mentioned that, about 15-18 percent revenue they generate for data services of which SMS is a part.
On this matter Subho Ray, president of Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) said,
“The government ought to commence with a law that has clarity. Provision a ban like this can be archaic and not uniform, considering the actual fact that SMS may be an important mode of communications in today’s world. We've appealed to DoT to allow a lot of clarity to the notifications, and permit emergency and important text electronic messaging services like those being sent by the railways, banks, airlines etc.”

Due to ban on SMS, young people having problem while contacting their friend. Almost all students in India via SMS as their primary source to connect with others as this is much cheaper and easy service. This is not first time the Indian government has banned SMS/MMS services on Festivals time.

Earlier, some political parties apprenticed the government to shut down amusing some social networking sites, such as Twitter and Facebook, for a few canicule to anticipate the advance of rumors. But this footfall is not taken.

Sony Mobile launches Xperia ion for Rs 36,999


Sony Mobile on Tuesday launched Android based smartphone, Xperia Ion for Rs in Rs 36,999 in India. The smartphone encompasses a 4.6-inch screen, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 16GB internal storage, twelve MP rear camera and a VGA front facing camera.

"With Xperia ion, we're bringing together a seamless experience across the multiple screens that we use to play, watch, listen, and share," Sony Mobile Communications Marketing Head Prasun Kumar said in a statement.

Virgin Mobile launches in Poland, eyes Russia, Turkey

Billionaire Richard Branson's Virgin Mobile on last wednesday launched operations in Central Europe giving a postpaid service in Republic of Poland and aims to expand its mobile telecommunication presence within the region.
"Virgin Mobile Central and Eastern Europe is a new regional company in the Virgin group. We are looking into expanding our business into Poland obviously but also potentially to Turkey, Russia, Hungary and others," Kristian Myrup, head of Virgin Mobile Central and Eastern Europe told reporters in Warsaw Wednesday.


Virgin becomes the third international whole on the competitive Polish mobile market, following Deutsche Telecom's T-mobile that controls twenty eight per cent of the market and France Telecom's Orange that commands twenty nine per cent.

Branson's Virgin enters the sport because the fifth player in Poland overall and company officers hope to capture a minimum of 1,000,000 pre-paid purchasers at intervals 3 years, company officers aforementioned.
