HTC One S Review

HTC has launched a new smart phone in their One Series line and named it HTC ONE S, after great success of HTC ONE X it will be very pretty to see what this new model do in smart phone market. HTC always bring their mobile with dashing looks and feel. In ONE S they have shown their piece of modern design technology and engineering and much more to feel. HTC's One X fabricated with 4.7inch of HD screen, Quad core and really ultra thin but HTC's One S offers you much more like about price factor and also it is most thinnest smart phone that HTC has ever made.

HTC's One S run on latest Google Android Operating System 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, powered by Qualcomm MSM8260A Snapdragon S4 processor which combines a dual 1.5GHz Krait CPU , that means you have four processor to run your mobile and its applications with Adreno 225 GPU to give you great graphics and much more.
Design and Build Quality
If we look on One S closely we can find that its higher specification successor to 4.3 inch HTC Sensation with new looks and feels. HTC Ones S, outer body is made up of aluminium uni body shell or case of 7.8 thick only. The look and feel of this mobile suggest how HTC is working in their mobile and defeating their rivals. As HTC One X gave a bang competition to Google Nexus and now HTC One S is ready to compete with coming Samsung Galaxy S3.

HTC have provide good hardware to make your all telephony good, signal quality is good even in some underground places also. Voice is good as well as in both with hands free or without hands free.

Design of this handset is much different from rest of other smart phone, at each corner, wedge shape make very easy to put in or put out this handset in your front pocket of your Jeans pants. Below the display screen of handset, there are three fully capacitive touch buttons to help you to navigate your mobile.

Display
HTC's always gives great display features to their all phones, One S came with Super AMOLED qHD display screen size 4.3 inches of 540x960 resolutions of with approximately 256 ppi pixel density to gives you great video viewing experience on your phone. To prevent your screen from any damage and scratches, screen is covered with layer of Corning Gorilla Glass.

Corning Gorilla Glass is almost scratch less layer help you prevent your phone from scratches and other dirt and it easy easy to clean.Display screen os One S combines the combination of 16M colours to gives you real view and also its a capacitive touchscreen and support fully multi touch features.

Camera
HTC's has made no changes to their One S model, all features and cameras specifications are same as on HTC's One X. To capture your happy moments 8 Mega pixel of camera is present at the back of the mobile which can shoot 1080p video at 30fps with a dedicated HTC ImageChip processor. This in built chip increase processing power to give you bang of classic pieces in seconds.

For Video Calling purpose One S is preloaded with VGA Camera at font top of mobile. Having VGA camera on smart phone is now becoming outdated and this is the one feature i don't like most in this mobile. There should be at least 2.0 megapixel of camera to proceed in Smart phone lineup and compete with other rivals.

Well if we talk about Capturing quality of Primary camera, You can get stupendously great-looking photos under the right lighting conditions, but the company is still guilty of over-processing images, blurring out fine detail in its efforts to reduce noise and consistently over saturating colors so as to give a more vibrant look to photos.

Software And UI
Well it run on latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich edition which gives you lots of options to customize your look and feel of your phone and with touch of HTC Sense UI 4.0. Sense 4.0 is fully ported to work with Android 4.0 and their are so many changes has been made like in Multitasking menu view is now in new look and now gestures are now easy to make and have fun with them. Although ImageSense and the DLNA gesture control are laudable, both could have been introduced without the ruination of Google’s Android 4.0 design language. And HTC didn't just make ICS look worse, it’s thrown in a couple of usability problems of its own.

HTC sense 4.0 make favour in look of Android 4.0 but not fully, they have regreat to add some new fetures of Android 4.0 UI design.

Hardware and Applications
HTC has fully powered this phone with higher hardware specifications, One S is powered by Qualcomm MSM8260A Snapdragon Chipset with Dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor to handle your all processing and 1GB of RAM. To handle all your graphics work One S is fabricated with Adreno 225 Chip.

There is no slot for your microSD Card which is one of the disadvantage of this mobile instead of slot, mobile came with inbuilt memory of 16GB, which is enough to load your all needed content to your mobile.

Well this phone features all other smart features like Accelerometer , gyro, proximity and compass. This mobile is flash supported, which means you can also play flash files and applications on your mobile.

Listen your Radia and FM because it came with stereo FM radio with RDS and with with A-GPS support you can track your path and find ways using google Maps and much more to have fun with.

Here some other features One S include:

  • MicroSIM card support only
  • Beats Audio
  • Active noise cancellation with dedicated mic
  • TV-out (via MHL A/V link)
  • SNS integration
  • MP4/H.263/H.264/WMV player
  • MP3/eAAC+/WMA/WAV player
  • Google Search, Maps, Gmail,
  • YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk
  • Document viewer
  • Voice memo/dial
  • Predictive text input

Messaging & Telephony
As we have discussed about build quality, they have provide good hardware to make your all telephony good, signal quality is good even in some underground places also. Voice is good as well as in both with hands free or without hands free. But after checking both, we found voice quality on hands free is much better. Some times there are little distorting of sound in built earpiece when while we talking on phone.

For messaging (SMS, MMS, Email, Push Email) built in standard keyboard is present in this version of Android Operating System(4.0).

Battery life
Standard battery, Li-Po 1650 mAh did good job to keep your One S alive for up-to 7 hours, which is pretty good for a Dual-core 1.5 GHz Krait phone with that large and much bright screen with under heavy usage. Stand by time of One S is about one whole day without recharging it.

Final Verdict
In final i must say HTC’s One S shows an outstanding design that is both unique and elegant, solid construction, an amazing camera quality, a terrific user interface of mixture of Android 4.0 with Sense UI 4.0 and outstanding all-around performance shows how HTC is working on thier technology. An upcoming Samsung’s Galaxy S III could pose a serious threat to HTC in the coming time, but I’m pretty confident that the One S will hold its own reputation against Samsung’s new flagship in terms of hardware and software and looks what make One S unique. HTC One S was launched on April 25th for $199.99, it is one of the best smart phones T-Mobile has ever launched.
